Johnny J. Szloboda, 80, of Elyria, passed away Thursday, January 23, 2014 at the Cleveland Clinic, following a brief illness. He was born May 21, 1933 in Cleveland and was a lifelong Elyria resident.
Johnny worked at the former Pfaudler Company in Elyria for 30 years, retiring in 1997 as a welder. He was a member of the Elyria East Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses and enjoyed tending to his roses and spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Patricia (nee Gerber); daughters, Jennifer (David) Snodgrass and Anna Szloboda, both of Elyria, Megan Szloboda of Lakewood and Laura Pretch of Highland Heights; son, Johnny J. Szloboda, Jr. of Elyria; 11 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death his sisters, Kathleen Ondo and Joan Szloboda.
The family will receive friends Monday, January 27, 2014 from 4 P.M. until the time of a Memorial Service at 5 P.M. Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57), Elyria. Mr. Richard Parsitt will officiate. Burial will be private.
