LORAIN — A Lorain man suspected of robbing a convenience store Saturday also is being investigated in two bank robberies, police said.
Erik Castillo was arrested at Lito’s Bar, 1802 E. 28th St., a short time after the 9 p.m. robbery of the Kwik Mart, 3155 Pearl Ave., according to a news release from police Capt. Roger Watkins. The bar is about a quarter-mile from the store.
Castillo had a fake pistol and a small amount of cocaine on him, Watkins said. A report on the robbery was unavailable Sunday.
Castillo is the “primary suspect” in the Jan. 8 robbery of the CommStar Credit Union, 5609 W. Erie Ave., and the Jan. 18 robbery of the Chase Bank branch at 2232 Fairless Drive, Watkins wrote. Charges may be filed in the next few days.
Castillo, 23, of the 300 block of Missouri Avenue, was charged with aggravated robbery, possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia. Castillo was held without bond Sunday at the Lorain City Jail and is due in Lorain Municipal Court at 10 a.m. today.
