Elyria blotter: Driver arrested after admitting to fleeing accident scene

Friday, Jan. 24

  • 3:50 p.m. — Lorain Boulevard and Parmely Avenue, Tina Brunecz, 35, 5000 block Clifton Ave., Lorain, arrested and charged with leaving the scene of an accident, failure to control, driving with an expired license, driving with a suspended license and speeding. Police said Brunecz fled the scene of an accident and admitting to hitting a stop sign and knocking down cable wires. They said they found a small amount of crack cocaine and drug paraphernalia in the pickup she was driving.
  • 4 p.m. — 2000 block Fowl Road, a supervisor for a home under construction said a $200 sump pump was stolen from the home. He said he noticed a pickup with two men immediately leave the driveway when he arrived.

Saturday, Jan. 25

  • 5:36 p.m. — American Red Cross Lorain County Chapter, 2929 West River Road N., a volunteer said she found a water spigot on the side of the building turned on, which created a large sheet of ice in the parking lot.
