Ammal S. “Mookie” Gardner

GardnerAmmalAmmal S. “Mookie” Gardner, 31, of Elyria, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 26, 2014, in her home, following a long illness. She was born in Cleveland and lived in Elyria all her life.

She was a graduate of Elyria Catholic High School, class of 2001 with honors. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Cincinnati, class of 2008. Ms. Gardner was employed as a Youth Camp Counselor for the YWCA of Elyria, a file clerk for Medical Records at Tri C Medical Center in North Ridgeville and a Librarian for the University of Cincinnati.

A member of Unity Baptist Church of Elyria, where she served as choreographer for the Unity CIA and FBI Mime Ministry, she also was a member of Lorain County Agape choir. She enjoyed computers, ice skating, singing in the AARC University of Cincinnati choir, and spending time with family and friends.

She will be sadly missed by her parents, Reverend Willie, Jr. and Karen Gardner of Elyria; maternal grandmother, Lavada Maben of Elyria; special aunts, Reva Pasley and Annie Bogan, both of Jesup, Georgia, Sandra Maben, Pamela (Rev. Dr. Darryl) Bohles, Rhonda (Donald) Frazier), Collette (Rev. Weymen) Stephens and Franke Williams, all of Elyria; and a host of cousins and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Bobby Maben; paternal grandfather, Aaron B. Gardner and grandmother, Franke Gardner; uncle, Dennis Maben and aunt, Unette Posley.

Friends may call Thursday, January 30, 2014, from 7 to 9 P.M. in the Unity Baptist Church, 326 Fuller Road, Elyria, where services will be Friday, January 31, 2014, at 10:30 A.M. The Reverend Dr. Carl P. Small will officiate and Reverend Dr. Darryl Bohles will be the Eulogist. Burial will be in Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria.
