Mary Rachel Dove (nee Brink), 87, of Grafton, passed away Monday, January 27, 2014, at her residence, with her family by her side. She was born November 30, 1926 in Elyria. Mary graduated from Elyria High School and the MB Johnson School of Nursing in Elyria. She worked for Dove Manufacturing and was a nurse at Easthaven Nursing Home for 10 years. Mary was a pianist at North Eaton Baptist Church and volunteered for many charitable organizations. She had many hobbies, including gardening, bird watching, avid reader, skilled artist and wrote children’s stories.
Survivors include her husband of 67 years, James, Sr.; daughter, Cheryl “Toosie” (Paul) Dusky of Greenbrier, Tennessee; sons, James, Jr. (Ann) of Grafton, Larry (Barbara) of Lorain, Tim (Donna) of Elyria; daughters-in-law, Sandi (nee Plas), Judy (nee Ensign); 24 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Grover and Gladys (nee Correll); sons Jerry Michael, Ronald, Christopher; granddaughter, Kimberly Dove; sisters, Dorothy “Dot” Ackley, Lois; and brother, Carlton.
Family will receive friends 4 until 7 P.M., Thursday January 30, 2014, at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57), Elyria, where services will be held 11 A.M., Friday, January 31, 2014. Reverend Ben Dusky will officiate. Burial will be in Brookdale Cemetery.
