Westlake police seek suspect in church break-ins

WESTLAKE – Authorities have identified a suspect in three church break-ins that occurred late last year.

John Vargyas, 41, has been connected by DNA to recent break-ins at Westlake Christian Church, 25800 Hilliard Blvd., according to police Capt. Guy Turner. Rocky River Municipal Court issued a felony warrant for breaking and entering after the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation analyzed evidence left at the scene, he said.

Vargyas is believed to frequent the MetroHealthMedicalCenter area in Cleveland, and his last known address is in BrooklynHeights, Turner said. Vargyas has a criminal record dating back to 1994, which includes convictions for theft, receiving stolen property, breaking and entering, probation violation, safecracking, vandalism, attempted escape, tampering with coin machines, and burglary in Cuyahoga and Lorain counties.

Anyone with information on Vargyas’ location should contact their local law enforcement agency or Westlake police at (440) 871-3311.

The warrants are for breaking & entering, but none for theft…

This guy has convictions for vandalism and his DNA was left behind in a way that the cops are sure it’s his…

I have a feeling there ain’t enough Lysol to clean up the mess he leaves behind each time he visits the church on those cold and lonely nights.

Safe bet that somewhere in his history, there was a priest who really messed with his mind.
