Police arrived at 54-year-old Larry Edwards’ house on the 600 block of West 13th Street about 8 a.m. Tuesday to find clothing tossed around the front lawn and frozen vomit on the front porch, according to the police report.
When an unbound Edwards answered the door for police, they could see a woman inside who looked like she was sleeping at the bottom of the stairs inside, according to the report.
Edwards told police he woke up with an extension cord tying his feet together and his rent money missing.
According to the report, Edwards said the woman at the bottom of the stairs was 19-year-old Zhane Harris, the girlfriend of Edwards’ son, cut through the extension cord and freed him before police arrived. Harris told police she arrived at the house around 3 a.m. and untied Edwards.
After questioning, police charged Harris on an unrelated warrant for obstructing official business and contempt of court.
A few hours later, Edwards told police his son had found text messages from Harris, who allegedly freed Edwards hours earlier. According to the report, Harris texted Edwards’ son using Edwards’ phone and told him she was going to tie up Edwards and murder him, he told police.
“I’m bout to murder yo dad,” one of the texts read, according to the report.
