ELYRIA – One person was taken to the hospital after crashing his car downtown on Wednesday afternoon.
According to Elyria police, the man was traveling westbound on Second Street near the intersection with Court Street at about 1 p.m. when he drove off the right side of the road. He struck a light pole and a tree before stopping in a snow bank just in front of Elyria City Hall.
The driver, who was not identified, was transported to UH Elyria Medical Center. There were no other occupants in the vehicle.
Police say drugs and alcohol were not suspected. They believe the crash was caused by a medical issue.
