Dorothy Irene Deal, 86, of Elyria, went home to be with the Lord and other loved ones, Wednesday, February 12, 2014, at Welcome Nursing Home in Oberlin. She was born February 13, 1927, in Boone County, West Virginia.
She worked as an inspector at Fisher Guide General Motors for 27 years, retiring in 1987. She also worked as a hostess at the Oberlin Inn for many years. Dorothy was a member of Church of the Nazerene in North Eaton. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, church activities and reading the Bible. Holidays and family gatherings were very important because of all the love that was shared.
She is survived by daughters, Brenda Kay (Earl) Gregory, Oberlin, Janet (Jerry) Berry, Oberlin; son, Dallas (Loretta) Deal, Elyria; grandchildren, Keith, Kevin, Matt, Rick, Brian, Rodney, Jon, Jill and Lori; 18 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; brother, Charlie (Ginny) Weaver; sisters, Irene (Brent) Stalnaker, Sue (Bill) Hoerter, Judy (Tom) Stacy, Jayne (Roger) Hamerick; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her by her husband of 40 plus years, Edward Deal in 1987; mother, Gertrude Weaver and father, Howard Weaver; grandson, Brian Gregory; brothers, Hugh, Steve and Harry David Weaver; and sisters, Gladys, Madelline and Jean.
Visitation will be Monday, February 17, 2014, 5 until 8 P.M.,
at the Cowling Funeral Home in Oberlin. Funeral Service will be 11 A.M., Tuesday, February 18, 2014, at the funeral home, with Pastor James Smuckers officiating. Interment will be at Westwood Cemetery.
