Mary M. Kairat

Mary M. Kairat (nee Acevez), of Elyria, passed away Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at the Wesleyan Village in Elyria, following a lengthy illness.

Mary was born in Lorain and raised in Amherst, graduating from Central High School in Amherst. After retirement, Mary along with her husband moved to Florida then Michigan before moving to Elyria, where she has resided for the last six years.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Amherst. Mary was employed at Petri’s Clothing Store in Sheffield Center for 10 years before retiring as the assistant manager. She also worked at U.S. Steel in Lorain. Her hobbies included ceramics and painting.

Survivors include her husband of 65 years, William Glen Kairat; and her sister, Margaret Babicsak of Amherst.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Clara Wilcox in 1999; and her parents, Pasqual and Luiza Acevez (nee Lopez).

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at 10 A.M. from St. Joseph Catholic Church, 200 St. Joseph Dr., Amherst. The Rev. Fr. Michael Denk, Associate Pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memory Garden, Avon.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Wesleyan Village Memorial Foundation, 807 West Avenue, Elyria, OH 44035.
