Lorain man faces felony assault charges

Starr

Robert Starr

LORAIN — A Lorain man is accused of severely beating a woman in a car outside his home in the 1400 block of Herbert Drive about 7:05 a.m. Saturday.

Samantha Emmerich said Robert Starr repeatedly punched her in the face, breaking the orbital bone in her right eye and broke her left collar bone and shoulder, according to a police report.

Police said they photographed numerous injuries on Emmerich.

Emmerich said Starr is a friend and she gave him a ride home because he was too drunk to drive. She said Starr passed out in the car and when he woke up, he demanded $100 and began punching her and threatened to “kill her and burn her daughter,” according to the report.

Police said when they arrived outside his home, Starr ran about 70 yards before surrendering. Starr, 20, was charged with felonious assault and obstructing official business. Starr was also wanted on warrants accusing him of felonious assault, grand theft auto and failure to obey a police officer’s signal.

Starr appeared in Lorain Municipal Court on Monday and is free on a $30,000 bond. He is due back in court Feb. 26.
