Harlan served in the U.S. Navy, and retired from General Motors. He was a member of Grafton V.F.W. Post #3341. Harlan enjoyed spending time with his grandkids, going to car shows, and fishing.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Judy L. (nee Tripphahn); two daughters, Jennifer L. Docherty of Avon, Kelly L. Rigda (Andy) of LaGrange; and a son, Danny H. Kennedy of Grafton. Additional survivors include nine grandchildren, Taylor, Shane, Cooper Docherty, Brennen, Deghan, Kylie, Corbin, Kassidi Rigda, and Rocco Kennedy; five sisters, Carolyn Whitesel of Grafton, Patricia Stump of Melbourne Beach, Florida, Connie Adams (Edward), Elizabeth Moore (Jack) and Norma Smith (Rodney) all of West Virginia; and two brothers, Nicholas Kennedy (Shannon) of North Ridgeville, John Kennedy (Ann) of Virginia.
Harlan was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Avis (nee Cox) Kennedy; and two brothers, Ronald and Marvin Kennedy.
Family will receive friends 4 until 8 P.M., Friday, February 21, 2014, at The Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57), Elyria (440) 322-4626. Funeral Services will be 11 A.M., Saturday, February 22, 2014, at The Beldon United Methodist Church, 36130 State Rt. 303, Grafton, OH 44044, where Reverend Jeff Lanzer, Pastor, will officiate. (Please meet at church). Burial will be at River Road Cemetery in LaGrange, where Grafton V.F.W Post# 3341 will provide full military honors.
