ELYRIA — An 81-year-old woman told police she forced a knife out of a man’s hand when he tried to use it to threaten her granddaughter.
Anthony L. Davis, 33, of 230 13th St., was charged with felony domestic violence about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday at his home.
Mary Stephens, 81, told police she lives on the 200 block of 13th Street with her granddaughter, Tania Koutsopoulos, 32, and Davis, her granddaughter’s boyfriend. Davis arrived home about 10 p.m. Tuesday and saw that his girlfriend wasn’t home, according to the report.
Davis told police he was worried when he couldn’t find Koutsopoulos and walked around the block to look for her before returning home and finding Koutsopoulos there and started to argue.
Stephens gave a different account, however. She told police that her granddaughter and Davis started arguing in their bedroom when he returned home and when she went in to check on them, she saw Davis hitting Koutsopoulos. Davis left the room, went to the kitchen and grabbed a knife before following Koutsopoulos into the bathroom and threatening her with it, according to the report.
Davis, who denied using a knife to threaten his girlfriend, was found guilty of domestic violence in 2011.
He was being held at Lorain County Jail on Wednesday evening without bond.
