Pair of suspects in custody in robbery of pizza deliverer

ELYRIA — Police have arrested two of three men they say beat a pizza delivery man and held him at gunpoint before stealing his money, phone and pizza Sunday.

Michael B. Moore, 21, of Elyria, and Andre Hopper, 21, of Elyria, were charged with aggravated robbery and obstructing official business. They were arrested about 11 p.m. Sunday on Fifth Street after the alleged robbery, which occurred a few blocks away.

The delivery man from Marco’s Pizza arrived at 240 Fourth St. to deliver a pizza, and he was met by three men in the hallway of the apartment building, police Lt. William Pelko said.

The delivery man told police one of the men held him at gunpoint before hitting him with the end of the gun, and they took his money, a gun and the pizza before running toward Fifth Street, Pelko said.

Moments later, police found Moore and Hopper on Fifth Street, but they did not find the third suspect. The money, gun, phone and pizza also were still missing, according to Pelko.

Moore and Hopper each were being held at Lorain County Jail on $50,000 bond Monday.

Anyone with information about the incident or the third suspect should call Elyria police at 323-3302.
