OBIT FLAGIrvan_RonaldRonald P. Irvan, 63, of Wellington, Went to “Sail with the Captain” on Thursday, February 20, 2014, after a five year battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis. He was born December 18, 1950, in Elyria.

Ronald worked for York International as a manager for 32 years, until his retirement. After retirement, he worked for Schwans and Lindens Propane and also worked for the Grafton Fire Dept. for six years. He was a United States Navy veteran, enlisting in 1969, receiving a discharge after surgery for a bad knee. Ron was a 1969 graduate of Elyria High School and a member of the Wellington Eagles. In 2012, he met his favorite author, Randy Wayne White. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, sports, gardening, reading and was devoted to his family, grandson, and friends. He also traveled to stadiums across the country with his son, Travis. Ron was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Deborah (nee Gallagher); son, Travis (Ann); sisters, Carol (Bob) Sorrell, Lisa Meng, Elaine (Troy) Perkins; brothers, Robert (Carol) Indian, Dave (Betty) Irvan; grandson, Ezekiel; and mother, Lillian (nee Bailor).

Family will receive friends 12 Noon until 3 P.M., Saturday, March 1, 2014, at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57), Elyria, 440-322-4626, where full military honors will be provided by VFW Post #1079 at 2:30 P.M.

In lieu of flowers, family suggests those who wish, may make donations to the Ronald Irvan Memorial Fund, c/o any First Merit Bank.
