Argene Clendenin Carr, 81, passed away on Monday, February 24, 2014, at Laurel Nursing and Rehab Center, Ivydale, West Virginia. He was born October 19, 1932 in OBrien, West Virginia, to the late Thomas Carr and Jose Mace Carr. He was married for 56 years to his wife, Nellie, and lived in Ohio for over 50 years. He loved the state of West Virginia and moved back in 2004.
Argene served in the United States Army and retired from General Motors after 30 years of dedicated employment. He was a skilled carpenter and took great pride in building homes and custom cabinetry. Argene was a kind and loving husband, father and friend, who was always willing to lend a helping hand to any one in need. He loved camping with friends and spending his winters in Florida for the last 21 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Gladys James, Madaline Garnes, Geraldine Burns; and brother, Francis Carr.
Argene is survived by his wife, Nellie Hughes Carr; daughter, Debbie Bachna of Escondido, California; daughter, Janet Boos and husband, David of San Marcos, California; grandchildren, Dustin Misorski of Portland, Oregon, Derek Misorski of Avon, Kyle Boos of Irvine, California; great-grandchild, Marley Misorski; brothers, Orval Carr and wife, Marlyn of Elyria, Noel Carr and wife, Jean of Bellevue; sister-in-law, Reta Carr of Elyria; step-brothers, Carl and Roger Frymyer; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was a member at First Congregational Church, North Ridgeville, for over 30 years and a current member of Hope Baptist Church, Frametown, West Virginia.
Funeral Services will be at 12 Noon Monday, March 3, 2014, at Richard M. Roach Funeral Home, Gassaway, West Virginia, with Reverend Rich Demastus officiating. Burial, with military rites, will be in the Sugar Creek Cemetery, Gassaway, West Virginia. Friends may call two hours prior to service at the funeral home.
