Rose E. Callahan (nee McIntyre), 78 years of age, and a resident of Lorain, passed away Friday, February 28, 2014, at University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center following a lengthy illness. Rose was born July 12, 1935, in Hadley, Pennsylvania moving to Lorain in 1965. Lorain has been her home since that time.
She was a registered nurse and used to work at St. John West Shore Hospital. Rose attended St. Vincent DePaul in Sheffield. She was a world traveler and an avid reader. She enjoyed shopping for antiques and working in the garden. She loved pets especially dogs. She was a very social and caring person and her sense of humor touched everyone she met.
Survivors include her son, Sean (Susan) Callahan of Lorain; her daughter, Shari Callahan also of Lorain; three grandchildren, Brent, Danyelle, and Lisa; four great grandchildren, Mallory, Cadyn, Amelia and Jamar, Jr.; and two sisters, Imogene Lackey of North Carolina and Carrie Kimber of Greenville, Pennsylvania.
Rose was preceded in death by her brother, Robert McIntyre; her sister, Norma; and her parents, Edward and Anna Marie (nee Montgomery).
Private memorial service will be held at a later date.
