Jewell Gartin

Jewell Gartin

The Westlake woman who was reported missing this morning has returned home.

Jewell Gartin returned home earlier this afternoon after a medical appointment and a lunch with a friend, Westlake police Capt. Guy Turner said.

Turner said Gartin made arrangements for these trips without telling her daughter, who then reported her missing.

—————– ORIGINAL STORY —————–

Westlake police are looking for an elderly woman who went missing this morning.

Jewell Gartin, 76, is a white female with short white curly hair, about 5’3 with a thin build and spinal curvature. A family member reported she was missing from her Village Green home, near the Dover Center and Center Ridge roads intersection, at about 11:30 a.m. Monday, according to Capt. Guy Tuner.

Gartin suffers from dementia, and may be wearing a maroon parka with fur-trimmed hood and brown suede Ugg-style boots.

If she is spotted, call 911 or the police department at (440) 871-331.

Glad she has a family member who is on top of knowing where her mom is supposed to be, and the fact that she wasn’t where she thought she should be. Too many elderly don’t have that, and the time of missing goes unnoticed for too long. Hopefully Mother and daughter can laugh about this later.
