Mary Ann Smith photographMary Ann Smith (nee Shuster), 89, of Grafton, passed away Sunday, March 2, 2014 at her daughter’s home in Wellington. She was born July 31, 1924 in Lorain.

Mary was a 1942 Lorain High School graduate, a 1964 graduate of St. Joe’s Nursing Academy, and earned an Associate Degree in Nursing in 1975 from LCCC. She worked as a nurse at Elyria Memorial Hospital for 27 years.

Mary was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Grafton. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mary enjoyed family picnics, travel, fishing, boating, watching Jeopardy, golf, NASCAR, The Nature Channel, and reading mystery novels.

Survivors include her daughter, Karen Farago (Joe) of Wellington; three sons, Richard (Betty) of Carlisle Twp., Robert Jr. of Vermilion and Anthony of Carlisle Twp.; additional survivors include seven grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren; two sisters, Rita Bennett of Lorain, JoAnn Brumback (the late Mel) of Lorain.

She was preceded in death by her husband, whom she married June 30, 1945, Robert A. Smith, Sr., who passed away April 4, 2006; parents, Charles and Margaret (nee Kuszkiewicz) Shuster; sister, Veronica Kapron (Stanley); and two brothers, Ray and Walter Shuster.

There will be no visitation. Funeral Mass will be 10 A.M., Thursday, March 6, 2014 at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 708 Erie St., Grafton, where Rev. Fr. John Patrick Seabold, Pastor, will be the Celebrant. Burial will be private at St. Mary Cemetery, Grafton.
