Man, 19, sentenced to prison for 7-Eleven robbery

ELYRIA — A Lorain man has been sentenced to four years in prison for a May 29, 2013, robbery.

The sentence handed down Wednesday by Lorain County Common Pleas Judge Raymond Ewers against Alexander Lee, 19, not only covered the robbery of the 7-Eleven on Leavitt Road that police were concerned about, but a second, unrelated robbery.

Police raised concerns after two other men involved in the robbery, Justin Miller and Gary Epps Jr., received probation in the case during sentencing hearings last year.

A video of the robbery showed three men, all wearing masks, enter the store and attack the clerk, Caleb Borden, who was behind the counter. Police determined it was Lee who attacked Borden and was involved in a lengthy struggle with the clerk.

The fight ranged through the store before ending outside when Borden managed to subdue Lee until police arrived.

Epps briefly tried to intervene before fleeing along with Miller, according to police. Both men later admitted to being involved in the planning and execution of the robbery.
