Richard C. Tilgner died peacefully with his family at his side on Thursday, February 27, 2014 at Kobacker House, in Columbus, Ohio. He was born on Storer Avenue in Cleveland, Ohio on August 3, 1928 to the late Alma (Viergutz) Tilgner and Anthony Tilgner.
He served in the U.S. Army Aircorps from 1946 to 1948 and was stationed in Japan. He did many types of work over the years but his favorite was being a cross country truck driver, which he did until he retired. He loved his family, his “granddogs” and enjoyed meeting and talking with people wherever he went.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 39 years, Geraldine Anne (Waldvogel) Tilgner; his parents; brothers, Ralph and Russell Tilgner.
He is survived by daughters, Susan (Lynne Bratka) Tilgner, Joanne (Greg) Maki, Judy (Jim) Prussak, and Betsy Hurst; grandchildren, Kelcie Prussak, Rachel Banhidy and Christopher Hall; several great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews; cousins and dear friends.
Family will receive friends Saturday, March 8, 2014 from 10 A.M. until 11:30 A.M. in the Novak Funeral Home, 4476 N. High Street (one block north of Henderson Road) Columbus, Ohio, where funeral service will follow at 11:30 A.M.
