Elyria woman charged in stabbing

ELYRIA — An Elyria woman was recovering Sunday night after police said she was stabbed by another Elyria woman about 5 a.m. Sunday at a home at 1152 Garden St.

Ashley Plues, 23, of the 200 block of Winckles Street, was in good condition at MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland, according to a nursing supervisor.

Dominique Barbee is accused of stabbing Plues in the head, hip and arm with scissors during a fight over a boyfriend, said police spokesman Capt. Chris Costantino.

Barbee, 26, was arrested and charged with felonious assault. Barbee, of the 400 block of Sixth Street, was held without bond at the Lorain County Jail on Sunday night.

Barbee’s criminal record includes convictions for endangering children, persistent disorderly conduct and theft. Barbee was charged with felonious assault in 2013 and the case is pending. She is due in Elyria Municipal Court today.
