WEATHER UPDATES: Lorain County under Level 2 snow emergency

Update (1:50 p.m.): First Energy is reporting most of the power has been restored in Lorain County. There are currently 331 customers without power, according to the company’s website.

Update (1 p.m.): The Lorain County Court Domestic Relations and Juvenile Court divisions will be closing at 2 p.m.

Update (12:15 p.m.): Lorain County Common Pleas Court General Division and Clerk of Courts have closed for the day.

The Lorain County Prosecutor’s office is closed to the public, and employees are being given the option to leave.

Lorain County Community College is also closed.

A snow ban has been issued for North Ridgeville. Avon Lake has not issued a snow parking ban, but advises residents not to park in the streets so plows can clear snow.

Original (11:15 a.m.): The Lorain County Sheriff’s Office has issued a Level 2 snow emergency notification.

A level 2 means that roadways are extremely hazardous with blowing, drifting snow and/or flooding. Only those who feel it necessary to travel should be on the roadways.

Employees should comply with workplace policies or contact their employer.

This alert will remain in effect until further notice.

The city of Lorain has issued a citywide snow parking ban until further notice. Details on the ban are available on the city’s website.

First Energy is reporting 5,569 customers without power in Lorain County as of 11:15 a.m. Avon and Avon Lake are experiencing the most weather-related power outages, with 1,702 and 3,774 customers without power, respectively.
