Steve C. “Midge” Vaszi III, 67, of Elyria, passed away Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at Ames Family Hospice in Westlake, following a long illness. He was born December 7, 1946 in Elyria and was a lifelong resident.
Steve was a machinist for Parker Hannifin and retired after 48 years of service. He was a member of Grace Community Church, where he served as an usher and greeter. Steve was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather; he loved spending time with his grandchildren. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed fishing and golf.
Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Mary A. (nee Tegtmeyer); son, Steve C. IV (Melanie) of North Ridgeville; two grandchildren, Steve C. V and Taylor “Missy”; brother, Jerry Schultz (Sandy) of LaGrange.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Steve C. II and Garnett (nee Jackson) Vaszi.
Family will receive friends from 4 to 7 P.M., Friday, March 14, 2014 at The Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57), Elyria, where funeral services will be at 11 A.M., Saturday, March 15, 2014. Pastor Ed Wishart of Grace Community Church will officiate. Burial will be at Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon.
