ELYRIA — A Lorain man who was caught with 14 grams of cocaine in the Lorain County Jail late last year has pleaded guilty to drug trafficking and other charges.
Corrections officers searching the jail discovered drugs in the waistband of Obed Sanchez’s pants with the help of a drug-sniffing dog. The dog first alerted on Sanchez’s bunk, but no drugs were found.
When deputies searched Sanchez, 32, they discovered two small bags of cocaine in a sock hidden in his waistband.
Jail officials suspect Sanchez may have hidden the drugs in a body cavity when he was booked into the jail a day before the drugs were found when he was arrested for violating the terms of his parole on burglary and other charges.
Sanchez will be sentenced in the drug case later this year.
