Thomas A. Takacs, 66, of Elyria, passed away Thursday, March 13, 2014, at University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center, following a short illness. He was born in Elyria, where he spent most of his life.
Thomas served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He worked as a truck driver for 20 years before retiring in 2012. He previously worked in management for several Kmart stores for 25 years. He was a member of Magyar United Church of Christ, where he was a Senior Elder. He enjoyed cooking, traveling, spending time with his family, fishing and was an avid sports fan.
Survivors include his daughters, Jennifer Martin and Julie (Adam) Cook, both of Elyria; grandchildren, Andrew Martin, Lucy and Chase Cook; brother, Robert Takacs of Grafton; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Denise in 2013; brother, John Takacs in 2013; and parents, Ernest and Viola Takacs.
Friends may call Monday, March 17, 2014 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M., at Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Road, North Ridgeville. Service will be held on Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at 11:30 A.M., in the funeral home. The Reverand Alana Kelley will officiate. Burial will be in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman.
