Elyria blotter: Man allegedly stole aluminum cans from neighbor’s yard

Friday, March 14

  • 3:07 p.m. — 400 block Concord Ave., David Woodburn, 48, 300 block Concord Ave., Elyria, cited for theft. A neighbor accused Woodburn of stealing aluminum cans from her backyard. She said she followed a trail of cans from her backyard to Boston Avenue where she said Woodburn was putting cans into a car. Police said Woodburn told officers he had the homeowner’s permission to take the cans.
  • 9:08 p.m. — 300 block Yale Ave., James Perkins, 45, 600 block Denison Ave., Elyria, arrested and charged with assault and domestic violence. Perkins’ estranged girlfriend said he tried to force his way into her home and choked her. She said he then choked her friend, a woman who was visiting the home. Police said Perkins was arrested when he returned to the home about 10:35 p.m.
