Elyria blotter: Employee says assault spurred by Twitter posts

  • 12:45 p.m. — 100 block of West Ave., a woman reported the mirror on her Dodge Nitro, which was parked on the road, was broken off.
  • 1:50 p.m. — 200 block of Ninth St., a woman reported that her cell phone was stolen from her home, and she believed two boys that her roommate let into the house took it. She said the boys, who said they were students at Eastern Heights Middle School, were selling candy.
  • 5:01 p.m. — 100 block of West Ave., a Sears employee reported being assaulted by a girl she knows from social media. She said the girl asked why she called her names on Twitter and then pushed her and punched her in the face.
  • 10:11 p.m. — 600 block of East River St., a LifeCare worker reported that a woman received a head injury near McKinley Elementary School. The woman had told the worker that she received the injury from falling on a rock but also admitted to being in a domestic dispute earlier in the day. Police investigated the area where the fall occurred but found no evidence of blood or belongings that were supposedly left at the scene.
