OBERLIN — A Lorain County Academy student was expelled after a knife was found in his pocket.

Police said it was the second time that the boy brought the knife to school. Officials found it during a routine morning search of students, a police report said.

Lorain County Academy Principal Graham Henderson told police the knife had a 3.5-inch blade. The student was suspended Jan. 13 for the first incident, he said.

Police also noted behavioral issues with the student in the past.

The boy was taken to the Lorain County Juvenile Detention Center, and the matter was forwarded to the Lorain County Juvenile Court for consideration of criminal charges.
