Patricia Sikora, 68, Simi Valley, California, died peacefully in her home Friday, February 21, 2014 with her loving husband of 37 years at her side, following a brief battle with lung cancer.
She taught elementary and middle schools for nine years in Stamford, Connecticut and at various schools in California until she retired in 1999. Pat volunteered as a Medicare Counselor at the Simi Valley Senior Center, wrote articles for the Retired Senior Volunteer Program newsletter in Thousand Oaks, as well as other volunteer opportunities in the community.
She enjoyed traveling with her husband and made frequent visits to families and friends. Her house was always open as she often hosted friends and family from throughout the U.S. as well as other countries.
She is survived by her husband, Lawrence Sikora; sisters, Marion Chmielewski and Frances Edson of Connecticut, Genevieve Uva of Arizona; and brother, Brian Chmielewski of Connecticut.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Paul and Frank Chmielewski, Connecticut; and sister, Linda Chmielewski, California.
A Mass will be celebrated Saturday, March 22, 2014 at 4:30 P.M. at St. Jude Church, 590 Poplar Street, Elyria.
