ELYRIA – Students at Elyria High School are being evacuated after a bomb threat has been made against the school.

Police Capt. Chris Costantino said a call came into the Elyria Police Department shortly after 10:20 a.m. today. The caller said there was a bomb at the school.

Officers are on scene and students have been removed from the building.

“I can’t say much at this time, but we are following our protocol,” Costantino said.

This comes roughly two hours after students at the school held a peaceful rally in front of the Washington Building in support of a newly-formed gay and straight alliance at the school.

Costantino said the caller made no reference to the club or the rally. There is no indication at this time that the two are connected.

does this site give me the option to petition AGAINST it?

If equal rights are going to be the argument, why not a NRA club?

      • John Ripley

You can have an NRA club, but it is illegal to have a gun on the premises…

      • Angie Climbintothetop Z

Students in an urban/suburban area are most likely not going to be participating in rifle association clubs. However, considering they can not even purchase their own rifles, hand-guns etc… it would be interesting to see how that pans out. My step-father is a NRA instructor, and my younger brother and sister both regularly participate in 4-H and target practice activities. They used to live in Elyria, and there was no such activity like that for them to get involved in. I honestly think that if you could drum up enough interest, they would at the least, consider it!

      • Sarah Boesger

Sure! Go right ahead. That’s what petitions are about. I would just advise you to take a look at the Little League website before you take a stance. Best of luck!

      • Sarah Boesger

And I would have no problem with an NRA club if it were as well organized as Allies with an advisor and the permission of the school.

Provided that is is started under the rules and guidelines for starting a club there is noting the school can do.

  • Sean MacNair

No connection to the club or the rally? Yeah, OK…..

    • Matthew Van Wormer

I highly doubt it. This is the same school that had a string of bomb threats about 8 or 9 days long because kids are stupid. I guarantee that’s all this is.

      • Sean MacNair

        Way too coincidental

        • Matthew Van Wormer

Turns out it was the bank robbery suspect taking attention away from the bank he was heading to.

        • golfingirl

Turns out there was no connection Bono.

    • stop ur whining part deux

More likely it is related to the bank robbery at dollar bank. How convenient that a bomb threat is called into a school 20 minutes before a robbery of a bank. That threat pulled every cop on duty to elyria high.

        Nice call,

My Club has an opinion. My club believes Sean MacNair was trying to instigate and elevate friction with his failed presumptions. That’s what My Club’s Opinion is.

probably some kid anxious for spring break to start but whatever the reason not cool to cause a panic.

Wow. Some of our comments must be pinching someone’s nerves. Some are going missing!

There wasnt a bomb threat 8 or 9 days ago. It was another serious reason. Today was a bomb threat. If 8 or 9 days ago there was a bomb threat, we WOULD have been evacuated. Trust me I know. I am a Freshman at EHS. Today was the ONLY bomb threat this year. Get the facts right before assuming something.

    • John Davidson

I believe you are a student at Elyria. You can’t read. “about 8 or 9 days long”

  • Justin Hersh

The threat had nothing to do with the rally. There was no evidence saying that the bomb threat was related to the rally.
