Joseph graduated from Elyria High School, Class of 1967. He proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1967-1983, serving in Vietnam. He was employed as a Union Carpenter. He was a member of Crossroads Christian Center of Oberlin and Carpenter’s Local #305. He was a sports fanatic who had coached several youth baseball and basketball teams in Elyria, but his most cherished passion was his role as a father and grandfather. He loved the outdoors, spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren and has a grandson serving in the U.S. Army. He and his wife were also foster parents to 30 children, adopting four.
He is survived by his children, Delmos (wife Angie) Williams of Columbia, South Carolina, Yolanda (husband Andre) Ross of Elyria, Keenan (wife Sarah) Williams of Elyria, Jodie (husband Isaac) Johnson of Elyria, Ebony (husband Kenneth) Hines of Elyria, Candice Williams of Elyria, Marcus Williams of Elyria, and Antasia Williams of Elyria; 25 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; mother, Mary Bentley of Elyria; siblings, Eugene King (Mary) of Elyria, Bernard King (Cal) of Atlanta, Georgia, Jeanette Riggins, Juanita Carter, Jacqueline Arnold, Jerry Williams (Paquita), Patricia Scott, Andrea Hall, Alonza Williams (Pat), and Alicia Williams.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 39 years, Linda L. Williams (Board); and his father, Alonza Williams.
Friends may call 4 to 6 P.M. Wednesday, March 26 2014 at Crossroads Christian Center, 43824 State Route 511 East, Oberlin. Funeral service will follow at 6 P.M. with Reverend Santo Davila officiating.
