Man injured in fight at Lorain bar

LORAIN — A fight started at a bar Tuesday after witnesses told police a man tried to pull his ex-girlfriend by her hair and other men intervened to stop him.

About 1:30 a.m., police arrived at Dale’s Sports Bar, 3680 Pearl Ave., to investigate a fight. A man outside the bar who had bruises on his face and “at least two teeth knocked out” told police he had been attacked by about five people inside the bar and then kicked and punched outside, according to a police report.

The bar owner, Dale Higginbotham, told police the man was in the bar earlier trying to force his ex-girlfriend to leave with him when another man tried to separate them. Higginbotham told police the men started fighting before a group of five or six men joined in and took the fight outside.

No one was charged, and the former boyfriend was taken to Mercy Regional Medical Center for treatment.
