Dallas O. Neuschaefer

OBIT FLAGDallas O. Neuschaefer, 86, of Elyria, passed away Tuesday, April 1, 2014, at University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center, following a brief illness. He was born April 4, 1927, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and was a resident of the Elyria area for most of his life.

Dallas worked as a tinsmith at the General Motors Corp. in Elyria for 28 years, retiring in 1986. He served in the United States Army Air Corps during WW II, attended Emanuel Lutheran Church in Elyria, was a member of the American Legion Post #12, was involved in Elyria Little League Baseball for 40 years and was an avid golfer and bowler.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Marilyn (nee Williams); sons, Bruce (Diane) of LaTrobe, Pennsylvania, Dean (Mariann) of Sheffield Township, and Mark (Karen), Lance (Laurie) and Matt (Shawna) all of Elyria; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two sisters; and two brothers.

He was preceded in death by a son, Delmar; and one sister. The family will receive friends Friday April 4, 2014, from 4 P.M., until the time of services at 6 P.M., at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57), Elyria, 44-322-4626. The Reverend Chuck Behrens, Chaplain of Hospice of the Western Reserve, will officiate. Burial will be private.

    Dallas was a wonderful man. His love for people was what he was known for, He always had a smile on his face and an encouraging word for anyone he met. He was quite the family man, beloved to us all. He’ll be forever in our hearts, especially during baseball season. Happy birthday, Grandpa!
