Julius J. “Ruggy” Korzan, 86, of Elyria, died Tuesday, April 2, 2014 at University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center. He was born January 9, 1928 in Elyria and was a 1945 graduate of Elyria High School and also graduated from Oberlin Business College.
Julius was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and also served on the Minesweeper U.S.S. Heron during the Korean Conflict. He was employed at General Industries and then as a cost manager for 35 years at Empire Spring Company in Elyria from where he retired. Ruggy was a member of St. Mary Church and enjoyed reading, playing golf and watching golf and football on television.
Julius is survived by his wife of 59 years, Joyce M. (nee Dostall); daughter, Mona (David) Mittler of Elyria and Brenda (Richard) Bosley of Wellington; sons, Terry (Kathy) Korzan of Elyria, Lee (Beth) Korzan of Nashville, Tennessee, Gary Korzan of Elyria, Loren (Jaci) Korzan of Elida, Ohio and Rory (Brenda) Korzan of Miamisburg, Ohio; 13 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Margaret Korzan; sisters, Alice Barczyk, Helen Payne and June Zidek; and brothers, Leo, Mike and Frank Korzan.
A Funeral Mass will be Friday, April 4, 2014 at 10 A.M. in St. Mary Church, 320 Middle Ave., Elyria. Reverend Charles T. Diedrick will be the Celebrant. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Elyria.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary School.
