A flood warning is in effect for the Black River in Elyria, according to the National Weather Service.
As of 11 a.m. Friday, the Black River stage was 10.5 feet; flood stage is 9.5 feet. Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast, according to the weather service.
The weather service predicts the river to rise to near 10.5 feet by this afternoon, and fall below flood stage early Saturday.
According to the weather service, flooding begins south of Elyria in CarlisleTownship when the river stage reaches 9.5 feet. At 11 feet, flooding begins in low lying areas near the river in Elyria, and may result in Ford Road being closed for high water.
A flood watch is in effect for Northeast Ohio through this afternoon.
