Man allegedly shot friend’s car with pellet gun

LORAIN — A fight between two friends escalated when one man shot at his friend’s car, shattering the window.

Police were called at 3:34 p.m. Monday to the 1000 block of East 32nd Street in reference to a criminal damage complaint.

An 18-year-old man told officers that he and his 21-year-old friend have been “at odds.”

The 18-year-old drove past his friend when he saw him “pull out what appeared to be a pistol and shoot at his vehicle.” The 18-year-old heard a blast and then his driver’s side window shattered inward. At first, the 18-year-old thought the gun was real, but then changed his mind and told officers he believed it was a pellet gun.

The 18-year-old also told officers that “(his former friend) has put a real gun to his head in the past, but he never reported it.”

No other damage was done to the vehicle. The officer told the younger man that a report of the incident would be on file and to contact the Lorain city prosecutor for more information.
