Richard E. Swineford, 83 of rural Ashland, passed away Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at his residence. On October 5, 1930 in Ashland, Mr. Swineford was born to Clebert E. and Kathern L. (Boals) Swineford. He had been a resident of Ashland County the past 30 years and formerly resided in Amherst.
Mr. Swineford work as an equipment operator for Columbia Gas in Lorain. He was a member of St. Edward Catholic Church and served in the U.S. Army from 1955-1957.
On August 22, 1953 Mr. Swineford married Betty Nahm who survives. Also surviving is one son, Rick (Pam) Swineford of Nova, Ohio; two daughters, Sally Swineford and partner, Sid Hood, and Cathy Boette, all of South Carolina; three grandchildren, Richelle Swineford, Samantha (Scott) Nealon and Will Boette; sister, Susanne (Dean) Sheppard of Nova, Ohio; brothers, Charles D. (Mary Ann) Swineford of Huron, Larry Swineford of Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Swineford was preceded in death by his parents; step mother, Effie Mitchell Swineford; and a sister, Sandra M. Schuster.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 A.M., Monday, April 7, 2014 at St. Edward Catholic Church, 510 Cottage St., Ashland, with Fr. Rod Kreidler presiding. Interment will be at Imhoff Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family Sunday afternoon, April 6, 2014 from 4 until 6 P.M. at Heyl Funeral Home, 227 Broad St., Ashland.
