Janice R. Brady (nee Kiska), 69, of Amherst, died Friday, April 4, 2014, at her home, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born December 23, 1944 in Lorain and was a life-long Lorain County resident.
Jan was a 1963 graduate of Lorain Admiral King High School. She owned and operated Charade Toy Poodles, where she raised champion poodles and showed dogs all over the United States before retiring in 2003. When she wasn’t showing dogs, Jan traveled to attend her grandchildren’s and great-grandchildren’s activities.
She is survived by her sister, Rosemarie Csubak (Steven “Sonny”) of Lorain; children, James (Deborah) Brady of Avon Lake, Jerry (Diane) Brady of Lorain; long-time friend, Gary Bomback of Amherst; grandchildren, Nicholas and Zachary Brady, Jason (Tiffany) Brady, Jeffery and James Brady; and great-grandchildren, Tanner Brady and Carter Brady.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Margaret Kiska (nee Vigg); sister, Evelyn Hinkel; and husband of 50 years, James Brady on February 25, 2014.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, April 8, 2014, 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M., at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain. Funeral services will begin Tuesday at 8 P.M., with the Reverend Attila Szemesi, Pastor of Amherst Congregational United Church of Christ, officiating. Cremation will follow and her ashes will be buried at Calvary Cemetery in Lorain at a later date.
