New Jersey man faces burglary charges

OBERLIN — A New Jersey man was arrested for allegedly burglarizing an apartment on Thursday.

A neighbor called police at 2:11 a.m. to report a man in the apartment above her who was making loud noises.

Police found a door ajar and a shirtless man inside the apartment, on West Lorain Street. The man, later identified as Glen Dagger, 21, closed the door after officers asked if he lived there.

The officers entered the apartment with guns drawn and found broken glass and a broken pot near the doorway, according to a police report. Police said a window was open, and Dagger was found hiding in a closet.

Dagger was charged with burglary, resisting arrest, theft and obstructing official business. He pleaded not guilty to the charges in Oberlin Municipal Court, and a preliminary hearing is set for 2:30 p.m. Wednesday.
