Arlin Ellis Hall went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center. He was born October 31, 1929 in Webbville, Kentucky. Arlin had made his home in Elyria for most of his life.
He proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Alrin was employed as an assembler at Nordson Corporation for 15 years before retiring in 1996.
He was a active member of North Lake Missionary Baptist Church in South Amherst, where he served as a Deacon for over 25 years. He enjoyed bowling, gardening and listening to Bluegrass Gospel music.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 60 years, Shelby Jean Hall (nee Cooksey); his children, Sharon (Gary) Jones of Elyria, Keith (Barb) Hall of Collins, Carl (Cheri) Hall, Janell (Joseph) VanCooney, all of Elyria; his sister, Ilene Porter of Sandyhook, Kentucky; 13 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Ennis and Elizabeth Hall-Porter (nee Sparks); his brothers, Leslie Hall and Roy Porter.
Friends may call Friday, April 11, 2014 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. at the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 12, 2014 at 11 A.M. at North Lake Missionary Baptist Church, 323 North Lake Street, South Amherst. The Rev. Jayson Samons, Pastor of North Lake Missionary Baptist Church, Rev. Charles Keesee, Pastor of Midway Baptist Church and Rev. Gary Sparks his nephew will co-officiate.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to North Lake Missionary Baptist Church, 323 North Lake Street, South Amherst, OH 44001.
