Don attended Trinity Lutheran Church in Grafton. He was employed as a welder at the Pfaudler Co. in Elyria for 43 years, retiring in 1982. He served in the United States Army Air Corp during World War II. He was a member of the Elyria AMVETS, and was a lifetime member of the Elyria V.F.W. Post #1079. Don led a very active life. He enjoyed tinkering and could fix anything. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing fast pitch hardball in the military and fast pitch softball for the local Pfaudler team.
He is survived by one daughter, Sharon Dove of Medina; one son, David (Liz) Westbrook of Elyria; one brother, Paul Westbrook of Elyria; one sister, Gladys Dozanti of Macedonia, Ohio; grandchildren, Christa (David) Kissel, Scott Dove, Nichole (Timothy) Rollins, and Adam (Rene) Westbrook; great-grandchildren, Lauren Kissel, Kathy Mills, Ryan Kissel, Desiree Westbrook, Samantha Kissel, and Emily Westbrook; and by his longtime friend, Lucille Groves of Elyria.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Patricia Westbrook in 1990; three brothers, Larry Westbrook, Clifford and Clyde Moore; one sister, Gwendolyn Binegar, and by his parents, Gayle and Ora Westbrook (nee Rutherford).
Friends may call Thursday, April 10, 2014, from 5 until 8 P.M., at the Reichlin Roberts Funeral Home, 327 Cleveland St., Elyria. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home Friday, April 11, 2014, at 12 Noon. The Reverend Timothy Rollins, of the South Main Street Church of God in Rittman, will officiate. Burial will be in Brookdale Cemetery, where the Elyria V.F.W. Post #1079 will provide full military honors.
