Critter Chronicles: Derby

derby-hounds

This handsome boy was rescued from a dog pound after being confined there for almost two months.  Derby has been in a foster home so he does have all of his house manners and is house-trained.  He is really a rather laid-back guy in your home.  Derby has another canine friend in the house and the two get along fine.  There are also cats where he is, Derby will chase if they hiss and run but if they don’t care about him, he doesn’t care about them. I think he should be able to live with cats without a problem.  Children should be respectful of dogs and age 12 and up due to his size.  He has been a very social and friendly guy with everyone he has met.  Derby has learned to walk nicely on the leash and does know a few basic commands.  He will need a daily walk for exercise and we do prefer a fenced in yard so he may enjoy his outside time at his leisure.  Derby will make someone an excellent best friend and companion.
