Timothy A. Koons, 55, of Lorain and formerly of Elyria, passed away Wednesday, April 9, 2014, at the Cleveland Clinic, following a long illness. He was born April 26, 1958 in Elyria and spent most of his adult life living in Manhattan, New York.
A 1976 Elyria Catholic High School graduate, Tim worked as a self employed sales representative. He was a member of Alcohol Anonymous, was a avid sports fan and enjoyed playing golf and spending time with his family and especially being a grandpa.
Survivors include his daughters, Jennifer Koons and Becca Koons, both of Lorain; grandchildren, Liliana Jurasin and Matthew Volk; former wife, Joan Koons of Lorain; sisters, Theresa “Terry” Forthofer of Medina, Patricia Freeman of Elyria and Estelle Nutter of Hendersonville, Tennessee; brothers, Brian Koons of Elyria and Wesley Koons of Gran Blanc, Michigan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and JoAnne (nee Schilke) Koons.
The family will receive friends Monday, April 14, 2014, from 3 P.M., until the time of Services at 6 P.M., at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57), Elyria. The Reverend Chuck Behrens, Chaplain of the Hospice of the Western Reserve, will officiate. Everyone is asked to wear their most colorful clothing in Tim’s memory. Burial will be private. Following the services, a celebration of Tim’s life will be held at 7 P.M., at the Elyria Knights of Columbus Hall, 118 Kipling St., Elyria.
