Three face charges in alleged theft from Victoria’s Secret

ELYRIA — Within 30 minutes Thursday, police arrested two adults and one juvenile on theft charges in connection with an alleged theft of clothing from the Victoria Secret store inside Midway Mall.

At 6:37 p.m. Thursday, Elyria police arrested Aaron M. Jones, 20, and Kenyatta M. Grove, 18, both of Cleveland, in or near the Bed Bath & Beyond store at 4417 Midway Mall Blvd., across from the mall.

Police said the suspects fled toward the store after a Victoria Secret employee informed a mall security officer of suspicious activity inside the store about 6:30 p.m.

When the security officer found the man and woman, later identified as Jones and Grove, they threw a bag of clothing to the floor and ran from the store.

Grove was stopped shortly after by an Ohio Highway Patrol trooper in the parking lot of Bed Bath & Beyond. Jones was found by police inside the store and arrested.

Merchandise taken from Victoria Secret was valued at $270, police said.

At about 7 p.m., the mall security officer who located Jones and Grove told police a third suspect who helped the other two suspects select, conceal and remove the Victoria Secret clothing had been caught near the Best Buy store entrance.

Police arrested the 17-year-old male, also from Cleveland, on a charge of theft.

He was taken to the Lorain County Juvenile Detention Home, according to police.
