Dwight K. “Ike” or “Grandpa Ike” McCready, 78, of Elyria, passed away Saturday, April 12, 2014, at Keystone Pointe in LaGrange, following a long illness. He was born November 25, 1935 in Indianapolis, Indiana and was an Elyria resident since 1998.
He was an avid sports fan and before moving to Elyria and retirement, he lived most of his adult life in the Chicago, Illinois area, where he co-owned and managed a sports bar “Ringside”. Ike worked part time in the meat department at the Convenient Food Mart on Chestnut Ridge Rd. for four years.
Survivors include his sons, Scott (Dawn) McCready of Grafton and Kevin McCready of Chicago; grandchildren, Kelly McCready and Alison (Andrew) Irish; great-granddaughter, Mackenzie Irish; former wife, Elizabeth; sister, Gwynedd (Robert) Rickard of Mooresville, Indiana.
All Services will be held in Indiana.
Memorial contributions can be made to any Heart Fund of the donor’s choice, according to Ike’s wishes.
