Bert was born in Oberlin, September 27, 1973. He graduated from Oberlin High School in 1992 and attended Erie Community College in Buffalo, New York, to study bowling management. Bert’s passion was bowling and at the age of 16, he was the youngest bowler in Ohio to bowl a sanctioned 300 game.
Bert joined his father at Locke’s Garden Center and worked there until 2007. Bert had a flair for landscape design and loved working with the Locke’s Garden Center customers. Other interests included boating, fishing, and woodworking. He especially enjoyed playing basketball with his 5 year old son, Brandon.
Bert is survived by his wife of 10 years, Carla; and his son, Brandon. He is also survived by his loving mother, Penny Locke; and sisters, Denise Capers (husband Bill of Oberlin) and Christin Locke Brown (husband Martin of Columbus). He was an uncle to Elena Robinson, Kristopher Robinson and Emily Capers.
He was preceded in death by his father, Bert Thomas Locke.
There will be no formal services. A celebration of the lives of both father and son will be held Saturday, May 31, 2014, from 1 until 4 P.M., at the home of Penny Locke of Oberlin. Memorial contributions, if desired, may be made to the Brandon T. Locke Scholarship Fund at Lorain National Bank, 24 East College Street, Oberlin.
