Brookside athletes sign to play in college

Four Brookside High athletes signed letters of intent Tuesday to attend colleges.

Matt Seekins, Brandon Bellman, Arin Pruitt and Ian Standen made it official Tuesday in a signing ceremony at the Brookside High library.

Seekins will attend Notre Dame College in South Euclid where he will play baseball.

A two-year varsity letterwinner and two-time team captain, he made first-team All-Lorain County and All-Patriot Athletic Conference as catcher for the Cardinals. He also earned a Scholar-Athlete Award and the school’s Silver Stick Award.

Bellman will play football for Otterbein University in Westerville.

A four-year letterwinner and two-time Cardinal team captain, Bellman earned a spot on the All-PAC first team and was also named honorable mention All-Ohio for his punting abilities.

Pruitt will attend John Carroll University in Cleveland Hts. and play football.

The four-year varsity letterwinner was first-team All-PAC and All-Lorain County and second-team all-district as a senior. He had 88 tackles while piling up 456 yards rushing with five TDs.

Standen is heading to Gannon University in Erie, Pa., where he will wrestle.

The multi-sport letterwinner was a three-time district qualifier in wrestling with over 110 career wins. He earned the team MVP award as a junior with a 43-13 record. In his senior season he placed first in one tournament and was named Most Valuable at the Cy Pinter Tournament in Elyria.
