Elyria man indicted on federal drug, weapons charges

ELYRIA — An Elyria man has been indicted on federal drug and weapons charges.

Jerry Wells Jr., 33, faces four counts of distribution of heroin and one count each of possession with the intent to distribute marijuana, possession with intent to distribute MDMA, also known as Ecstasy, and one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm, according to a news release from U.S. Attorney for Northern Ohio Steven Dettelbach.

The investigation, conducted by Elyria police and the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, determined that Wells sold heroin four times in February and was caught with 60 marijuana plants and 30 grams of MDMA, when he was arrested Feb. 21.

Wells was caught with a 9 mm semiautomatic pistol, which is illegal for him to possess as a felon with previous convictions for drug trafficking and burglary, the release said.

This guy brings new meaning to the term “career criminal.”

Time to just send him away for a nice 20 year vacation.
