George F. Hastings

Hastings_GeorgeOBIT FLAGGeorge F. Hastings, 88, peacefully passed away at New Life Hospice Center, Lorain, Sunday, April 27, 2014, after an eight year battle with cancer. He was born April 25, 1926 in Lorain, and attended Lorain High School before entering the U.S. Navy during World War II.

He was a retired machinist and his hobbies included fishing, reading westerns, watching Nascar, wrestling, the Cleveland Indians and cooking.

George will be missed by his wife of 14 years, Donna I. Hastings (Handley) of Sheffield Lake; her children, Kathleen Whaley (Mark Nixon) Vermilion, Kevin Handley (Marcia) Grafton; three grandchildren; and three great- grandchildren. He is also survived by son, Lance Hastings (Mary Ann); granddaughter, Katie Feria (Jared) of Gainesville, Florida; and three great-grandchildren.

George was preceded in death by his first wife, Erna Hastings (Sankovich); his parents, Andrew and Mary Honoshsky; and his brother, Edward.

Memorial service will be held 7 P.M., Friday, May 2, 2014, at Christian Heritage Assembly of God Church, Avon, where he was a member.
